Compression
As a treatment modality for inflammation, compression reduces vasodilatation and edema. Consequently compression is a key component of R.I.C.E (Rest. Ice. Compress. Elevate.). Additionally, by providing compression the injured or affected area is partially immobilized, protecting it from further injury.
ATS Biotech has developed a novel hydrogel that is engineered to provide cool-compression, therein combining two treatments in one. Unlike ice, the ATS cool compression bandage maintains a mean temperature of 18ºC (64ºF), providing analgesia without the risk of inducing of localized hypothermia.
